The top of this British puzzle’s box reads The “Tormentum” Jigsaw Puzzle, Benetfink & Co., Ltd, Cheapside, E.C., while a side label reads The Great Picture Puzzle Craze (Jig-Saw) No. 32., and provides a hand-written puzzle title “The Old Gardener.” The charming push-fit puzzle has 198 pieces and measures 13 1/2 x 9 1/4 inches. It is complete and all original. Six pieces at the top have some bubbling paper. Otherwise the puzzle shows only light wear and is in very good condition. It is a surprisingly difficult push-fit puzzle due to similarity of the curved pieces and of the colors.
This puzzle is part of an extensive collection of vintage hand-cut puzzles formerly owned by the late Ann Bohner, known on eBay as “puzzled grannie.” The collection includes both push-fit and interlocking puzzles.
