I wanted to push myself with this series of puzzles by using lots of tiny drop outs, cutting thin sections, and adding layers, which I hadn’t done before. Several of the drop outs in the design were too small and numerous to cut in a 7″ puzzle, so keeping them as similar as possible was quite challenging.
Dutch flower paintings, such as this painting by Spaendonck from the Rijksmuseum, provided a good opportunity to explore different elements of puzzle design.
