The artwork on this puzzle is by the artist Maris Platais, who was Pagey Elliott’s son-in-law. “The Rude Bridge that Arches the Flood” depicts the bridge along the Minuteman Trail in Concord, Massachusetts. The bridge is known by this name from the Concord Hymn by Ralph Waldo Emerson, April 19th 1838.
The puzzle includes multiple minuteman figurals that perfectly fit the theme of the puzzle.
The puzzle has one replacement piece, presumably crafted by Pagey, or possibly her daughter, Liz, as the image is a perfect match. Only the thickness of the wood and slight shift in grain direction give away hints that a replacement piece exists.
