I was provided a beautiful image from the customer. She desired an irregular edge, but we had to be careful not to cut off any of the beautiful calligraphy or the embossing that appeared on the image. After some back-and-forth discussion, we landed on a design with the silhouette of Mt. Fuji in the background of the cherry tree and birds. I also got to design the customer’s family crest as a whimsy in the puzzle. And, my favorite whimsy that I designed was a highly detailed couple participating in a tea ceremony. The finished puzzle size was 11 1/2 x 13 inches and contained 247 pieces.
Shay is a great communicator and was really fun to work with. Pictures really can’t capture how amazing this puzzle is. The wood is thick and of good quality, the cut incorporates all kinds of tricks and surprises to keep it fun and challenging, and the whimsy pieces are beautifully designed and thoughtfully placed. Just a beautiful, creative design that is one of a kind and I will love putting it together over and over again. -A
