This 487 piece puzzle is 15 x 12.” It was ordered by a member of the BCD, and she wanted a difficult puzzle, noting irregular edge and tricks. When I was researching possible special figures, I became enamored of the Southwest woven rugs and decided to create a rug pattern for the puzzle. The result was a puzzle that is not completely interlocking but that has many pieces that are the same shape. I hope that Bronwen finds it fun to assemble and that it takes a place in her permanent collection. Though the artist, William Penhallow Henderson, named his painting “Lucero’s Place, Springtime,” I gave it the name that the native symbols in the rug depict: Butterfly = everlasting life, Sun = happiness.
